CEREC Technology

CEREC’s Westmount Dental Care cutting-edge technology uses modern computer and manufacturing techniques for a variety of dentistry treatments. How does CEREC work? And What advantages does it provide? The procedure may appear difficult at first, but we’re here to explain how it works and why some patients find it appealing.

CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) is a technique for making dental restorations at our clinic. These restorations are often used to restore deterioration or injury to your tooth (or teeth). Some dental offices have sophisticated equipment that lets them use a computer to design and construct restorations.

We design and build restorations using CAD/CAM technology (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing). This method requires computer software to create designs from imprints, which are subsequently sent to our ceramic restoration unit for their fabrication.

CEREC can be used to create the following, according to the Journal of Dentistry and Oral Care:

  1. Dentures
  2. Dental implants
  3. Crowns
  4. Veneers
  5. Inlays and Onlays
  6. Fixed bridges
  7. Other orthodontic appliances

CEREC has both benefits and drawbacks that could make it a good fit or a wrong choice. Finally, it’s critical to seek the advice of one of our dental specialists to determine whether CEREC is a good fit for your specific needs.
